Job Title: Financial Accountant

Reporting To: Financial Controller

 

Core Functions:  

  • To monitor, support and assist in the delivery of annual company and departmental KPl’s. 
  • To deliver monthly management pack and variance analysis to budget and forecasts within tight deadlines for Internal and External stakeholders.
  • Ensure all Journals for Accruals, Prepaids, Salaries and Taxation are recorded in a timely  manner.
  • Maintenance of strong financial controls around cash management, payments, bank  reconciliations, debtor management and invoicing and retailer invoicing. 
  • Tax compliance in respect of VAT and Corporation tax.
  • Liaise, in conjunction with Financial Controller, in preparing year-end Financial Statements for the Audit Committee. 
  • To maintain the integrity of the accounting system (Microsoft Business Central) and monitor revenue and costs on an on-going basis to ensure they come in on target.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets to reflect the overall strategy and  development plans for the business having regard to past performance.
  • To produce other timely and accurate financial information as required to support the  business and ensure it is delivered in an efficient and timely manner using Business  Intelligence and staff resources
  • Treasury management to ensure maximum debtor collections, timely settlement of  creditors and manage the cash collection cycle.
  • Propose methods of maximising cash return on surplus cash.
  • IT system testing and development as it pertains to Finance.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and revenue recognition understanding of IFRS 15 13.
  • Preparation of monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations.

 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Participate in the provision of effective strategic and financial planning information to the Financial Controller.
  • Preparation of Finance KPl’s and Operational Reports. 
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual budget for the Company for the Financial  Controller with an emphasis on the cost base of the company. 
  • On-going review of Financial Performance against initial targets set. 
  • To plan and manage the annual financial audit of the Company in conjunction with the  Financial Controller. 
  • To work with all other departments and the Company generally relating to the provision  and collection of financial information and queries thereon. 
  • To liaise with Banks, Revenue Commissioners and other statutory/regulatory bodies  regarding all statutory returns and financial reporting requirements. 
  • Work with the Marketing/PR team in facilitating the preparation of the published Annual Report.
  • Input to and retention of ISO accreditation as it is applied to the Finance Dept and Company including the review, development and documentation of business processes. 
  • Build a robust control environment with clear procedure documentation and checklists to  comply with Internal and External reviews to ensure strong Governance over processes.
  • Cash Flow & management of online banking access.
  • Any other reasonable duties as required. 

 

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Qualified Accountant with approx. 3 years PQE – preferably Big 4/Top 10 trained.
  • Strong background in monthly management reporting analysis and operational/finance process flows.
  • Proven ability to implement successful process and system optimisations for Finance teams to bring the control environment to the highest standard.
  • Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills with the flexibility and experience required to remain highly focused and self-possessed in fast-paced, demanding environments.
  • Advanced user of Excel, ability to build excellent automated spreadsheets with key controls.
  • Experience with BI tools, and creation of reporting/dashboards therein, an advantage (e.g. Power BI).
  • Ability in compiling detailed guidance and explanatory documentation related to  finance and operational data/information flows.
